Prospects
for the weekend….
With a
stocking taking place today (click here for more info), the catch rates will
soar over the next few weeks, with large catches predicted, off to a good start
with one angler landing 23 trout today. In his own words “I will be back
tomorrow!”
Best Swims, are forecast to be the Road Side embankment & the east bank, pontoon 4 & 5 doing well today! See our water map HERE.
The resident fish will simply be disturbed from their normal territory, and be
forced to move around and feed for the vast majority of the waking day, competing
with the new stock. So keep on the move!
With warmer
weather setting it, there’s even been a few hatches taking place, small midges
most common currently. Although it is uncommon to see large hatches taking
place this time of the year, it pays to search your surrounds, take a glance
around your chosen swim. They won’t be hatching in the same numbers as the
height of summer; they are still a solid food source for trout throughout the
winter months.
- Yellow & white fritz (Brought Mr Brown, the tod rod for today!)
- The old favourable cats whisker
- Green & Black fritz’s, fished around 10ft have done well prior to the large stocking
- Natural
imitations, such as : Cruncher, Black Buzzer, Dwial Bach etc, will do well,
possibly securing anglers a few larger resident specimens!
Ps. It’s always worth a ask in the fishery office to see
what fly is best producing on the day, as we all know as anglers the conditions
day by day can vary, therefore so can the trout’s fly choice!
